The Akoesticum Talent Programme 2018, chamber music edition, (23 Feb – 04 March) is open to 24 outstanding young musicians – violin, viola, cello and piano – from the age of 16 and older. The course is aimed at bringing individual participants together, however, it is possible for existing ensembles (duos, trios, quartets, quintets) to apply.


We understand that the application process can be an anxious time. Please make sure to read the information below, and follow the instructions carefully. Additional instructions for applicants applying as an ensemble are marked with an asterix *.

Step 1: Complete the application form
Selection: beginning of December 2017

Please provide us with: 

  • personal details (name, date of birth, address)

  • music education (instrument, institute, teacher)

  • curriculum vitae

  • motivation


Step 2: Submit additional information
Selection: beginning of December 2017

Applicants must provide the following additional information by email:

  • 2 letters of recommendation (from a teacher and/or institute).

  • 1 audio/video file with the applicant playing a solo piece of his/her choosing.

  • 1 audio/video file with the applicant playing the first movement of the piece of his/her preference from the repertoire list (see Masterclasses). The recording is only the applicant playing his/her own part solo, without the other instruments.

* Students who have other recording material available can include this in their application, instead of the material requested above.

* For ensembles: each member provides 1 audio/video file of a solo piece of his/her choosing and 1 recommendation letter. The ensemble provides 1 audio/video file with the complete ensemble playing the first movement of a piece from the repertoire list.

Step 3: selection and admission

The final selection will be made by the Akoesticum Talent’s artistic team in close consultation with its partners. Applicants will be informed about their results by email by December 9th. At this time, applicants that have been accepted into the programme will be requested to provide their personal preferences regarding repertoire. Other practical information will also be requested at this time.


Fees & Financial Information

Accepted participants must pay a fee of  € 500,-. Akoesticum provides every participant with an additional scholarship, covering the remaining, actual costs of tuition, room and board. This covers housing at Akoesticum (private room, own bathroom) as well as breakfast, sandwich lunch and dinner and local transportation to and from the various concert venues. Participants are responsible for their own travel costs.
